Living in DubaiOne of the strongest selling points that Dubai offers as a destination is the unsurpassed safety and security it guarantees. The city also benefits from a host of other favorable conditions such as its geographic location, inviting weather and sophisticated infrastructure that includes an international airport, multiple seaports, well established communication network and transport services, and an ever expanding hotel network. The city boasts several internationally renowned hotels, a bevy of restaurants, beaches, shopping malls and tourist attractions. Dubai’s globally acclaimed sports facilities include golf, tennis, water sports, horse riding, dune driving and sand skiing. Several ongoing tourism projects are designed to develop Dubai into a luxury destination that rivals any other part of the world. With the added perks of 360 days of warm sunshine and endless entertainment opportunities, being a green desert city, and home to a resident population comprising almost 200 nationalities, Dubai lends full credence to its epithet of being the ‘Best of the East and the West’, with its strategic location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Dubai MetroThe Dubai government commissioned studies to “evaluate most efficient and cost-effective solution to combat traffic congestion” that resulted in the birth of Dubai Metro. Termed as the flagship project of the Roads and Transport Authority, this 15.5 billion Dirhams project will be a benchmark in terms of its state-of-the-art engineering, being an architectural showpiece and for its direct role in providing social benefits. The metro is being tastefully designed and will further enhance the architecture of Dubai. In terms of safety, Dubai metro is benchmarking against best international industry practice. Providing an alternative mode of transport, the metro aims at easing traffic congestion, reducing the travelling time, this in effect will reduce traffic-borne pollution and improve air quality thereby creating a better environment. The metro will not only enhance mobility within the city, it will also reduce dependency on car use. The metro will serve as a key connector linking it to Dubai International Airport. Provision for Park & Ride facilities near the terminals and at strategic locations along the railway route will further promote the use of metro.
